COMPUTER RECYCLING AND DISPOSAL

When it’s time to upgrade your IT systems, what happens to your old computers? Simply throwing them away risks data loss and environmental harm. Every organisation should use a professional computer recycling service.

At Pure Planet Recycling, we specialise in computer recycling and secure disposal for businesses across Bedfordshire and most of mainland England. Since 2007, we’ve helped companies, schools, universities, and local authorities safely dispose of redundant IT equipment in a compliant and environmentally responsible way.

We collect, treat, and recycle all computer hardware to the highest standards. Whether you have a single PC or a full office clearance, we make computer recycling simple, secure, and fully documented.

Why Choose Us For Computer Recycling?

We are a fully licensed Waste Carrier and an Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF) for electrical waste. The Environment Agency issues both accreditations. In addition, they give you confidence that your IT equipment is handled legally and responsibly.

Unlike many other providers, our team collects your equipment in one of our branded vehicles. You receive all the correct paperwork, including Waste Transfer Notes and Certificates of Destruction where required.

Choosing Pure Planet Recycling for your computer recycling and disposal guarantees:

  • Full WEEE compliance and environmental responsibility
  • Secure data destruction with hard drive shredding
  • Professional, uniformed staff handling your equipment
  • Nationwide collections for business customers

How our computer recycling service works

Our process is designed to be quick, compliant, and stress-free. Here’s how it works.

Tell Us What You’ve Got

Provide a list or photos of the computer equipment you’d like to recycle, along with your collection address. Also any access details such as parking or loading restrictions.

Receive A Quotation

We’ll send a tailored quote based on the equipment type, condition, and quantity. Once you approve the quote we’ll arrange your collection.

Collection And Paperwork

Our team arrives in one of our branded vehicles to collect your equipment. We issue duty-of-care Waste Transfer Notes before leaving site, giving you full traceability.

Secure Transport

We transport everything directly to our recycling facility in Bedfordshire using only our own staff and vehicles. Your computers never leave our control.

Recycling Process

At our facility, we process the equipment. We remove and shred all storage devices into 15 mm particles. As a result, this guarantees complete data destruction.

Reporting and certification

After processing, you’ll receive a recycling report and data destruction certificate detailing the serial numbers (if requested). Along with confirmation that all materials have been recycled or destroyed responsibly.

How We Recycle Computers

We follow an environmentally responsible recycling process that maximises reuse and minimises waste.

  1. Assessment for reuse – Each computer is inspected to see if it can be refurbished for a second life.
  2. Data removal – All hard drives and data-bearing devices are removed and shredded.
  3. Component harvesting – Working parts like memory, processors, and power supplies are recovered to repair other machines.
  4. Material recovery – Non-working units are dismantled, and metals, plastics, and circuit boards are separated for recycling.
  5. Recycling report – Once complete, you receive documentation proving every item was handled securely and sustainably.

This computer recycling process prioritises reuse. It also ensures that valuable raw materials re-enter the manufacturing chain. Thus reducing the need for new resources and preventing electronic waste from reaching landfill.

What Computer Equipment Do We Collect?

Our computer recycling collection service covers a wide range of IT equipment, including:

  • Desktop PCs and workstations
  • All-in-one computers
  • Laptops and docking stations
  • Computer monitors and screens
  • Keyboards, mice and accessories

  • Network switches and routers

We don’t require the equipment to be working or of a certain specification. In fact, if it’s electrical and related to computers, we can recycle it.
