SEPA Action on WEEE

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) have signed a deal with Crimestoppers to enable the reporting of the misuse of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations. An anonymous call to 0800 555111 allows the public to report any illegal activities of businesses for SEPA to further investigate.

Any business in Scotland, as in England, that transports, treats or disposes of any type of waste must have a waste permit or be registered with the relevant waste agency. So if you are in any doubt of a company collecting and disposing of you waste you are advised to check the background and ask for registration numbers/certificates and check what happens to the equipment before you use any recycling company.

This helpline will go along way to helping reduce practices such as the illegal exportation of WEEE from the UK.

Pure Planet Recycling provide secure and compliant WEEE recycling services within the UK to businesses.
