Pure Planet Recycling have been busy creating the latest video, this time highlighting how our hard drive degaussing service works. We have taken a working machine, complete with data, then captured how we use our degausser to destroy the data. Degaussing works by removing the magnetic field on a hard drive, destroying the data and the ability for the drive to function. This process also works on back up tapes, audio tapes and other magnetic storage media.
As with all of our destruction services, once we have destroyed the device it is then recycled to recover the materials contained within. This enables the raw materials to be reused back in the manufacturing chain.
