Hard Drive Destruction

There are numerous methods of hard drive destruction available, ranging from a hard drive erase, hard drive wiping or hard drive degaussing. After extensive research and testing, Pure Planet Recycling invested in the method of degaussing for hard drive destruction. Our degausser is approved by the National Technical Authority for Information Assurance (CESG) at the lower level for UK Restricted (IL3) data destruction. This degausser ensures that the removal of data on the drive/tape is permanent and the item becomes unusable.

Upon completion of the hard drive wiping a certificate of destruction is issued and the hard drive recycling process recovers the metal and plastics content.

Media Tape Destruction and Server Tape Destruction

Backup media tapes and server tapes provide the perfect disaster recovery solution, however disposing of them incorrectly is a disaster waiting to happen. As with hard drives, media tapes are usually magnetic storage devices, so our technicians use our degausser to perform the media tape destruction and server tape destruction.

Once the media tape destruction or server tape destruction has taken place they are then granulated for plastic recycling.

DVD destruction and CD Destruction

DVDs and CDs are optical storage devices that require a separate destruction system from degaussing. Our DVD destruction and CD destruction service shreds the cd or dvd to ensure complete destruction of any data. Quite simply the data on your cd or dvd is shredded beyond recovery in our DVD destruction and CD destruction service.

The dvd or cd, case and paper are then recycled to ensure a 100% recovery rate for our DVD destruction and CD destruction process.
