Fluorescent light tubes are now classed as hazardous waste, as the typical makeup of a light tube is 94% Glass, 4% Ferrous and Non ferrous metals, and 2% Phosphor. Within this phosphor powder Mercury is found, this is the most hazardous component found within the tube.
