Wrap Recycle Week, 21-27 June 2010

Next week sees the Waste Recycling Action Group's (WRAP) recycle week. It's aim is to promote the recycling and reuse of materials across the nation.

Wrap have announced that for recycle week (21-27 June 2010), they will be promoting the recycling of electrical goods that householders currently have in their homes. Research has been carried out to find out the reasons that prevent the recycling of electrical waste, and has found the following:

  • - 40% feel too sad to part with an item they no longer use.
  • - 41% hoped it might come in handy some day or would be able to pass it on to someone.
  • - 23% feel that some items seem too valuable just to throw away.
  • - 29% hang on to them because they're not sure what to do with them.

With 3 out of 4 people having redundant electrical equipment in our homes which could be recycled it is clear that promotion of what do with the equipment is important. Pure Planet Recycling welcomes the additional exposure that recycle week will bring, and hopefully the 29% of people that didn't know what to do with their waste equipment will be reduced.
